Contact your Representative and voice your opposition to attacks on birthright citizenship.

On Wednesday April 29, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee will be holding a hearing regarding the repeal of birthright citizenship. Last week, with your help, LULAC helped defeat radical anti-immigrant amendments in the U.S. Senate that sought to strip away citizenship from U.S.-born children of immigrants. We need your help again.

The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States” are citizens. In an effort to galvanize support of radical anti-immigrant voters, some members of Congress want to strip U.S. children of their citizenship rights.

Want to do more? You can call the offices of members in the House Judiciary Committee and tell them that repealing birthright citizenship is an assault on the U.S. Constitution and American values.  Call the U.S. Capitol today at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to any of the following offices. SAMPLE SCRIPT: “Hello, my name is XXXXXX.  I am calling to urge Representative XXX to oppose any attempts to repeal the 14th Amendment.  Ending birthright citizenship is a terrible idea, and an assault on American values. I am disappointed that the U.S. House Judiciary Committee is wasting taxpayer money and time entertaining extremist ideas like ending birthright citizenship. Last week, the U.S. Senate killed attempts to repeal birthright citizenship, and this week the U.S. House of Representatives needs to do the same. Thank you.”
